A Body, A Mind
I want to bleed the blues of a quiet sky the kind that slipped too quick
Beyond the vibrant hues of sunset, faded straight from that opaque wavelength
To film grain summer green with the depth of night barely seeping in,
The sun deep beneath the mountain tops but not too dark, not quite yet.
I want to lay amongst the shallow marshes, and feel the water sweep into my skull
As the quiet singing of bodyless crickets subsides to heartbeat thuds,
Something steady, something easy. Each beat a ripple in the water,
clear of moss and muck and mud, sun rays glittering on a framing halo of hair.
I want to walk through fields of wheat the way they do on every screen and in my dreams.
To weave through the shining gold untouched and bodyless, not a single scratchy prick,
But serene in the way only a body bare-soled on earth can be,
Not a stalk bent or broken beneath my feet.
